How are Chinese or Japanese characters counted? ＋

CJK characters are counted both individually (as characters) and as words — one character equals one word, which is the convention for Chinese and Japanese text.

How is reading time estimated? ＋

At roughly 200 English words per minute, or 300 CJK characters per minute. Treat it as an estimate, not a guarantee.
